Advancing a Culture of Compassion

Mary-Martha Learning Center

Our Mission: Mary-Martha Learning Center is a residential educational program where young
women and children who would otherwise be homeless are provided training and services for an
improved future.

Compelled by compassion, MMLC exists to foster a community of empowerment where these

young families can realize their potential for growth in mind, body, and spirit.

Our Program: The Mary-Martha Learning Center has served over 800 homeless families since

it’s opening in 1987. Our program is designed with the recognition that the needs of the whole
person and family must be met to reach their goals.

We focus on women (ages 18-24) who have not received their high school diploma and who

have children (ages 0-4). Our program is designed to equip each family with the tools they need
to ensure future success.

The families welcomed into Mary-Martha Learning Center are each awarded Residential

Scholarships to provide for their stay. MMLC Students are prepared to pass the GED exams and
instructed in a wide range of life skills, career and personal development areas by MMLC staff,
instructors from collaborating agencies and other professionals who volunteer their time.

Our education program is integrated with additional services offered as part of each family’s

individual plan. These services include case management, housing search advocacy, goal setting,
and 24-hour support from staff.

After 25 years and serving over 800 families, services at MMLC are temporarily suspended as we complete building renovations and develop sufficient financial support to resume services
